In a bizarre crossover event that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the formal release, "A strange encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This signifies not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
