Just as bad weather tore through the north-west the night before, the home side swept the visitors away at the their home ground. It was a performance that clearly signaled their title credentials as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

This result signalled successive WSL defeats for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, leaving them seven points off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.
